ah the spectators back in them days were an altogether hardier bunch. We would be standing so close to cars that ye could feel the heat of their engine as they went past.

Compare that to nowadays when ye would nearly need to bring binoculars to a rally to have a decent shot at seeing something. And the speeds were jst as crazy in those days.

Doesnt make it right though to stand 10mm from an S10 nowadays,

all it would take is one bad accident to ruin Irish rallying in the current health and safety real, litigious and true environment.

Sure back in the day we though plenty of things were safe, My Mammy knit me a jumper of asbestos to keep me warm on the school tour to Sellafield.
