I think thats not the original number, I will have to check but joe mac hughs car would have been CVA something. I will have to dig out photos but I believe joes car was owned by George Eliott originally.

That only appeared on the car once in Galway in 82, from then on the reg was OMG 732X.

Regarding 732X, I believe it became DIL>SOI>606>JZP

As well as OMG 732X there was OMG 865X which was on an Ascona and driven by McRae initially and later Ian Greer.

But anyway, let's try keep this thread to Chevettes, it's hard enough to work out histories without expanding to other GMs lol

Cant remember him in a chevette but he may have had . he did drive a mk2 gp1 which he won the galloway hills o'a in if my memory is right . ho also drove a sunbeam , corolla ,kadett gte ,,,

A genuine irish Chevette HS is currently been restored by a friend of mine. There are some nice pics of it on Rallyretro when it was rallied by Peadar White on the 1979 Galway international.

yes it is! i have a carsport mag dated sept 87 and george elliot is selling his hsr. reg CVA 753V. i remember seeing it in molloys bodyshop in enniskillen getting prepared for a respray some time previous to it being advertised.

george elliott's car was sold 2 joe mchugh i think it then was sold 2 vincent o'shea think it then got a na cosworth engine fitted but was sold out of ireland

was advertised as being ex works in carsport. reg was on a HS driven by brendan fagan in donegal 1980

Brendan Fagan led the Ulster Rally 1980 in this car- CVA 753V. It was a proper works spec HS, and more than likley built in a proper ex works shell.
Would love to know who has it now.

According to Graham Robsons book on Chevette HS & HSR , its not listed as a works car. Thats not to say as AndyRall suggested it being re-shelled at some point.
