in the fine Irish Motorsport Annual 2006 it has on pg 47 the top ten drivers of Irish rallying, (NB TOP IN 2005!) as voted in an industry poll of 50 experts winner was voted by 82% of the voters.

the results were as follows

1. Eugenie
2. Rory Galligan
3. Andy Nesbitt
4. Kris Meeke
5. Tim Mc Nulty
6. DMG
7. KPL
8. James Cullen
9. Gareth Mc Hale
10.Eamonn Boland
11. Garry Jennings
12. Niall Mc Shea
13. Austie Mc Hale
14. Sean Gallagher
15. Phillip Morrow
16. Ray Breen
17. Robbie Mc Gurk
18. Denis Cronin
19. Charlie Donnelly
20 Colm Murphy
21. Paul Harris

Can we get a poll or vote on here so we could have our own real and true vote and see how it would differ?

Comments I would make on the above.....................

Why isnt Rory Galligan 1st.......why why why (nothing against Donnelly)

Lynch only at 7??? Did no one see him in Galway? Or his times in Donegal? Never mind the woods.

DMG only at 6???? Who won the Circuit?

James Cullen at 8.............who? What results had he in 2005? Did he not only do 2 Rallies, North East and The Harvest..............if he is No8 he should have won North East (where he didnt even win Grp N?) and he would have won The Harvest as Donnelly had a guest co driver for the day.

Niall Mc Shea.............he didnt do anything really in 2005?

Sean Gallagher in front of Philip Morrow?????????? Gallagher had one very good rally in a 6, his home rally and his only rallyand Motorsport Ireland gave him 5 or 6 grand in a stranding fund award...................Morrow kicked arse all year in a 6???

Ray Breen wins the national and has some bloody good wins on the way and he is only 16?

And Paul Harris, what rallies did he do in 05, again a good driver but this poll is based on 2005?

No RWD drivers in there?
No real young cubs in there?

what does anyone else think?

Can we get our own vote in here?

when i read it at first i thoight, fair enough. Then as u say, McGarrity should be a bit further up as should KPL. And Morrow should be a lot further up. McShea? Other than Lurgan and the Titanic rallysprint thing, wot did he do? Other then complain about Connor McMeels imaculately prepared Escort.

But if u put DMG &KPL up, who do u knock down? I'm sure a lot of thought went into it and its easy for us to slag it off, but it'll keep the thread going

it just says they are people involved in rallying but not related to any of the people that made the list.

I think the 50 each voted their own top ten.

Hmm, I certainly would not agree with the order of that list. For one, Phillip Morrow should be a lot further up. McShea did very few events this year, as did Andrew Nesbitt...

What was the criteria ?? Event wins, fastest stage times in the respective championships ?? How exactly id the 50 people come up with their decisions ??

49 balls in the national lottery? I reckon Paul Harris was the wild card. Has to be the only way, the more i look at it, the more daft it is. But if u, me or anyone here (inc. Anto) were to do a top 50, there's no way of keeping everyone happy.

Wild quick man in an Oil Lorry

I think he tried to drive an Evo 6 just as quick and nearly managed it?

But the Evo driving end of his CV was good enough to make him Grp N champ in 2005.

It just says 50 people associated with the sport were contacted by e mail for their views?

Does anyone know who voted this?

You could be subjective enough about the top ten, but James Cullen quicker than the Forest champion Gareth Mc Hale? Come on Ted?

Was it a Donegal poll?

Maybe not, cuz there is no Civics in the top ten:laugh:
