Rallying's memorable moments!

I would be interested to hear what are the most memorable moments people have actually witnessed at rally's, be it seeing one of the top boys on the door handles, someone getting away with the mother of all moments, or maybe something crazy that happened in a service area! Or maybe obstacles people have overcome when prepairing and running events! Just basically the moments you'll never forget!

Colin McRae in a Rothmans Leagacy on the Ulster 1992, Completely sideways on a hairpin waving straight into the camera.

Star Man Mr McRae
I think it was this year, Donegal Int Rally, Knockalla Stage, when everyone was on slicks, and the rain was very heavy, Eugene was leading the rally and the choice was his as to weather the stage was to go ahead, the faces of the drivers I thought was class, i.e nesbit boland mchale and others, all the drivers were trying to put cuts into the rubber, and Eugene just sat with a smile on his face, Turns out he lost the lead to Nesbit…

Just the confidence to run the stage I thought was class.
Standing on the inside of the viaduct hairpin on the Villadrau stage when Carlos Sainz came through for the last time last year. What an electric atmosphere that would be hard matched anywhere.
Jim Harrison's barrel roll in Galway this year-biggest crash I ever saw
Eugene not lifting at the crossroads on that famous stage on the Jim Clark-can't remember it-The whole car kicked left at about 100+
Jim McDade's roll on the 83 Donegal-WOW.

Dozens more

Yeah McDaid's jump roll in the Ascona was a biggy, 1985 Donegal it was btw. I think I have a photo somewhere of him taking off on the jump, not of the aftermath though.
McDaid's aftermath in '85.

Best moment for me over the years was Patrick Snijers driving the nuts off an M3 on the Manx'88

My dad was servicing for him that year the car was pulled back and sat at our house for a few days , A story that year when the Helmet came of James head and flew out the window people were scared to go over near it and also the Yellow sign he took out at Mass Mount Chapel still has never been replaced to this day by the Donegal County Council warnig people of the Jump .

Anyone notice the Rothmans Stripes on top of the Windscreen from the previous owner ...........
Feck that car doesnt look as bad as you would think given how monster an accident it was.
Alistair Cochrane "killing" his Lada & almost me on Easter Stages was (still is) pretty memorial to me
Must be the highest air on that jump ever. Bertie in the Manta on Hamiltons Folly must have been the longest time in the air and the longest jump. Have it on Video somewhere-think it was ulster 87, or 86

You haven't witnessed Nesbitt on the Swinton Jumps in the Jim Clark then? PPL required!
Well Tony, what about Kenny McKinstry in the F2 Escort on the Donegal Rally? Can you remember that 1?????

The famous Hand of Hunter..............
favourite moment in rallying was when Frank Meagher won the manx rally in 95 i remember the look on his face when he was being interviewed at the end of the rally although its 10years now ago that memory will last forever ......Frank was a pure legend
Richard Burns at the first running of Punchestown. I always thought of him as a prick, but no one has ever thrilled the crowds at an event here like he has. Shame his career has ended years too soon
Best memory for me was my first rally i went to in 1999. It was the circuit of ireland. Watching the legandary Bertie Fisher in action at the night stage up near drogheda will always stand out for me. A truely great driver

Punchestown 2001 is another good memory for me too.
