No not madness.... thats SAFETY..... at least you'll know cage has been welded-in properly ... not by some eeejit with his Supermarket special Home Mig welder.... £1000 is cheap when it comes to saving your life... Also, will add value to car over one which is built in backstreet garage by muppets from the local borstal or whatever.

Why not buy bolt-in cage then, you can fit it yourself, see there was a write up about it in car sport also. Think this mite just be better than 205 challenge.

M-Sport want to make it new 106 cup as such, good staff behind it, the brains of 106 cup is organising this one to. Serious possiblities for winners.

Looks like a cool little car and if I was starting rallying it proberbly would be the route I would take-the car could always be upgraded to group A or Super 1600 in time, the championship is bound to get a lot of attention too-a little tarmac screamer.

So far there are 26 competitors registered. Some interesting names in the hat but we'll have to wait another 4 weeks to see what the pace will be like.

It is a fantastic package !!! The car has gone through extensive testing, over 3000kms, and there were no major issues. It looks like it will be a very quick car in the right hands but above all, the reliability seems to be spot on.

I cannot recall how much a brand new 206 was when the 206 Cup began but it was not too far off the price of a new Fiesta.

The whole concept of the series is brilliant. There are similar national status championships running in 6 other countries - Norway, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Canaries and Turkey plus the International series running on 6 rounds of the WRC - Catalunya, Corsica, Sardinia, Germany, Finland and Wales Rally GB, so a clear ladder now exists. All cars will be identical and all will run on a controlled tyre which will level the playing field. Plus with Stella Boyles looking after the championship, it can only be as good, if not better than the Peugeot Cup...

I can't wait for it to start. It already has a similar buzz as the Super Cup had when Peugeot Sport ran it :)

I have no idea. I do know someone who has finished building his but may not be able to do the championship due to medical reasons. I will contact him to find out and let you know.

Eskylane,

I have had a reply from Paul... He has given me a link to a series opf photos taken in Norway at Hauglands rally school a few weeks ago...

He says that he is still unsure whether he will be doing the championship and said, "Would your man want an arrive-and-drive deal, or would he want to run/prep the car himself? Depending on the driver/team I may be happy to effectively lease him the car for the season (or individual events) which would keep costs very sensible....... "

He can also give you a quote on how much it would be to hire the car and br run by the team. More info on this can be found at http://www.alexrally.com/page5.htm

There is also a build gallery at http://www.alexrally.com/stgallery.htm

Let me know what you think :)

Some very experienced names on that list! Gives any young person a real benchmark to aim for! Should be a good championship and hopefully something that will grow and develop!

TSM, I was under the impression that they had raised the extra cash to move up to the Fiestas ands there would be a 2 car Innovation Motorsports team with Chris and Rich....

I've not been able to get hold of Chris as he is in Norway so I've no idea.

Ray, there are some very quick drivers in there. I would not like to put money on the winner of round one, that is for sure...
