Plate type is good cause if you break a shaft the car car stil move on the one shaft but other disagree as they say what good is a car with one shaft? But I know ill be going for PLate type as you can buy kits to freshen them up after a seasons abuse !!
Ross the gear typw ones are ATB auto Torque Biasing they change them selves but the plate type ones have preset levels from 40%-90% depending on surface/power ect ect
in a front wheel drive car is probably a plate type such as tranX, zf or gripper etc, an ATB diff will pull you all over the road so im told i used one in rally cross with wide wheels on the front and it was alright but with the narrow wheels on it it did pull from left to right, as i told you patrick there is a zf diff in my peugeot and its a good job
