See on the MI bulletin that theres a slight change to the regs for Junior events

Motorsport Ireland said:
Appendix N, Article 3.1, item 2, 4th paragraph now reads: A Junior Rally is defined as a rally to cater for cars up to 1650cc (excluding Super 1600 and Kit-Car variant 1600)
This might make a bit of a difference, I know some people on here will be happy. Just one thing that worries me is; will it stop a guy with a 106 Cup Car, that has a kit engine in it, running on events.

Opinions please.......

Why does that worry you? There's nothing to stop anyone putting a similar spec engine into any car and still complying with the regs - so it's a level playing field as far as I can see.

A kit car is a complete package - suspension, wider track, engine, box etc.

In fact the way the regs are now written it puts the advantage back in the modified class....

Yeah I would read from that text that I could get my super duper vaux engine and send it to Mc Laren or Williams or even Prodrive and get it pimped and then go ballistic down every straight.

But its a step in the right direction S1600 cars in junior events was taking the piss.

But now the S1600's are gone theres nothing to stop someone with a 1600 16 valve Mk2 Escort with Sequential Box, Atlas Axle the whole lot from entering......
In my opinion these Junior Events should be limited to first time licence holders or anyone who has held a licence for a maximum of two years..........

Just because people have competition liscences dosen't mean they have been rallying all the time. I've had a comp liscence for 3 years and hav only done 2 events as a driver! Why should I not be allowed to enter as a junior?
