Lovely B & B's and pubs in the Oldcastle area............if I was doing the rally I would have gone up there last week for a recce.

Recce the pubs of course!!! No way would I recce the stages nor would I slanderoully say that any other person would dare tie in a holiday in Oldcastle and tour of local pubs with a recce of the stages.

Its perfectly OK to be in a pub in Oldcastle the week before the rally even if you do live in a totally other province and dont let anyone try convince me other wise ok:mad:

I never said anyone was spotted, just saying IF I was a rally driver, I would recce the drinking spots the weekend before to allow me more time for my proper recce the day before the rally, its all about time management.

Im talking hypodermically.

Hey Annie, you expecting a good result this weekend??
Stafford for a top 3 finish...fact

Should be lots of sideways action

Anyone hear any rumours as to what the stage is like??? I know this info would be from officials or residents as none of the competitors entered will have seen the stage before Sunday

I know nothing,

well let me qualify that by saying I dont know anything that I cant stand over 101% there is reasonable doubt homies, no probable cause, no witnesses that can stand up and show us the smoking gun, problems like this that mean Pacs killers still roam free.

There are people in rallying quite possibly with big restrictors, and people who in all probability recce when they shouldnt, I cant prove such things so I cant and wont point fingers it would be unfair to do that and be wrong perhaps and ruin someones name- or get my black ass sued.

Trojan I think you need to ring Bord Failte.com they might tell you where is a nice place for a weekend break, I doubt they would reccomend Oldcastle for last weekend, not that there is anything wrong with Oldcastle at all at all.

I know that there are competitors who know the stage like the back of their hand, and its pretty demoralising to be honest. I am competing this weekend and was hopeful of a fairly competitive run, but now that I know for a fact that people have been on the stages it has put a bit of a downer on the event.

What chance have people who haven't seen the stage - none! There are drivers who we have beaten in the past, and I am now expecting to get nowhere near their times on Sunday.

I just wish someone would make a real effort to stamp out this illegal recce fiasco. Its time people were punished and made an example of.

Its not going to happen, Illegeal recceing is going on for years, in certain cases its with event officials full knowledge and blessing, make an effort, catch the driver, ban him and his co driver for a year, then punish whatever club official gave them a map or road book.

Like I say I would love to rob a bank, but prison life is a bummer.

In the same vein it would be great to hire a hairy rally car and begin recce of a single stage 6 months ahead- but if I was going to be punished properly if caught I would think not once not twice but thrice!

"In 2006 a new initiative, involving additional resources, will be put in place in an attempt to eradicate illegal recce from rallying."

Jesus they haven't made much of a start then have they! Lets hope they really mean it.

I know its been going on for decades but I get the impression that there was more of an emphasis on catching people in the 80s than there is now. Surley the sport should be getting better not worse.

Also, there seems to be none of the competitors making a stand against it. Perhaps if one of the top drivers kicked up a fuss there would be some movement, but instead they all seem content to not rock the boat - it seems to be a mentality of 'if you can't beat them, join them'

so what are you saying exactly:dunno::dunno:
think its fairly obvious jp....but if any one is prepared to go the lenght of the country to illegal recce good luck to them, but ud imagine they would at least not go socialising in the local estabilishments, and fraggle is right its not fair but what can ya do
