Now, to make this a bit more interesting...

I see that Brian O'Mahoney and Peter Wilson are ahead in the poll. Why do people think they deserve it over everyone else ??
well i think Brian o Mahony deserves it because (1) he is seriously quick (2) he won two championships this year one of which was on foreign soil (3) i really think with the right support and sponsorship he could compete at world championship level, getting this award would maybe put him on the first rung of the world rallying ladder.

i agree as well but theres only two in the list that make a report nearly after every event and run there own websites,, means they have the pr side of things and the judges will love that.....

ps if you dont know who that is its:
Brian O'Mahony and Gareth MacHale
(sorry if im wrong)
Anto, the PR side of rallying is very important but most competitiors don't even consider that side of things over here.

I think brian deserves it more than peter, but o'toole before the two of them!!!!!!!!:)
colin o toole has being putting in some brillent times and getting excellent results in a 1400cc nova which is fair going i think he will go fair in this sport i think its between him and Brian o mahony
Well i belive that peter wilson should desvere it because of the fact that he is such a talented young driver to be doing so well in a class 2 civic but no harm to Mr O Toole and Mr O Manhony like they are but exception drivers but they also have exception good fast cars faster then a class 2 civic. If they can get as good of results as peter can in a civic then they would be as desvering as him.
If ur gonna bring cars & results in2 in then Gordan Coleman should win it hands down cos he's after some year in what can only be described as a heap of scrap of a car
Wouldnt describe o'tooles car as exceptionally fast, a 1400 corsa with around 140bhp, a lot less than a standard civic. It is set up right though and handles extremely well which can make up for bhp...
OTooles car is a torquey car, but your right only 136bhp!! Its set up by MK Rallyin in wexford. Surley a class 2 v tec civic should be puttin in better times!!!!!!
peter deserves it he is so consistent. very low budget and he is very approachable and and all round nice guy!

Not true Anto, Peter has press releases put out for him on a good few events this year.

Just in general! O Toole has been consistant too, the only DNF he had was last weekend in Wicklow, due to a broken drive, and it was a hired car not his own!........... Oh sorry i forgot one more Cashel Single Stage went off on last run but was leading class at this point!! And also a nice guy too with very little budget aswell!!!!!!

i did say sorry if i was wrong.... but just looking a o toole website ands its updated every other day witch is great... and peters pr well ive never seen a press release and i look at nearly all rally websites. i run the mayo motor club website and every meeting i talk about the site i get up and say i need your help the rally drivers help i need info about your car, rallys youve done and what place you came. ive never got one reply. enugh said about the pr in rallying in ireland.. its the only way forward.
I couldn't agree more anto. The PR side of rallying is not taken seriously enough in this country .

In saying that... some of the 'press releases' that have landed in my inbox are below the general acceptable standard. It has come to the stage where some people have decided to ignore press releases from certain sources. Badly written 'press releases' can have an adverse effect.
