If anyone has not done so already I recomend downloading this App.
It's fantastic and will keep you up to date will all the information that you need over the 2 days out on the stages.
Won't let me download on iPhone 4, says need iOS 5 whatever that means, no problems downloading any other apps, have I rally app, I see it's on there too
apparently tommorow friday day of the start of the rally they are going to allow you to follow the drivers on a gps app for your phone. so that means you will be able to see where the drivers are on the stages as it is picking up there tracking system
Vodafone is only 2.99 a day for 50MB when roaming in North. (well on contract anyway) and some packages (older Perfect Choice Access) have NI roaming free. (that why they keep trying to get people off these PCA packages) They done me this way..... but 2.99 aint too bad for email, google maps etc for the day
Bad telephone signal on my ipone certainly didn't help and I stuggled to tune into Downtown Radio who were supposedly covering the event. It's a shame that iRally live don't broadcast on a seperate FM frequency for the weekend !!! It's great during the WRC events that i've been to.
As far as I know the app was developed by the same people who did the Galway International Rally app. The CoI app was much more polished than the Galway one so things are quickly moving in the right direction but the only bit of the CoI app that was updated as far as I could see was the news. No stage times or anything.
I had the same issue (Android) with not getting stage times and the app crashing each time I tried to access the times & one or two other parts of the app crashing also. I did use it out on the stages to get rough times for stages later in the day etc if I hadn't my program on me so it was useful for that.
The day after the event I open up the program control panel and noticed an update for the app. Downloaded it and times worked a treat!!! Guess I should have checked before I headed off. (I think the update only went up after a few stages of the event)
Overall a good idea, a few things that could be added would be the actual times for he running of stages as opposed to the Leg times. I had a program but when you are wandering around service or standing on a ditch you might not have the program to hand.
Liked the fact that anything downloaded (leg times, entry list) was available offline so you could view these without roaming.
Hello ,
Downtown Radio and Cool Fm covered the event throughout, , It was on every hour just after the news and sponsorsed by Carsport.
The Northern Ireland Rally Championship will be coverered throughout the year on both stations.
Didn't really use it at all but then again I really didn't get a chance the mobile coverage was so poor id nearly go as far as saying a third world country I'd have better mobile/3G coverage than the north of Ireland
Not good Fergus but overall I find in general in the north 3G coverage very poor unless you are in a major town you have no hope,I'd say it's a poor reflection on the phone company's and the investment in NI
