Dani Sordo to drive Mini Super Production in Corsica. Pierre Campana was expected to get the drive as it's his home rally. Car is run by SMG Motorsport, owned by Drive-Pro who ran Campana last year in WRC, and will receive technical support from Prodrive.

The Spaniard will start the French round of the IRC on a Mini John Cooper Works S2000.
The fourth round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, Corsica on 11 and 12 May, will host a major driver in the world ... one of Dani Sordo. On this occasion, the Spanish will for the first time behind the wheel of a Mini John Cooper Works Super Production Car (SPC). The SPC is a mount almost identical to that driver in the WRC except several technical details. This version has an air inlet flange smaller than a WRC (30mm to 33mm in the WRC), a smaller rear wing, front brakes and a smaller bumper and side windows different. The Corsica is not uncharted territory for the Spanish. The latter is already taken part several times and has included two third places to his name in 2006 and 2007. Paved roads and winding of the island of beauty unlike any other and Sordo remains on three excellent results on this surface (a podium in Monte Carlo, France and Germany). Nobody doubts the fact that former teammate Sebastien Loeb does not come to Corsica to make up the numbers. "The Tour de Corse is a legendary event is such a shame he is no longer in WRC calendar , said the driver of the Mini. I really like it because it is a very technical rally and should always be precise in our paths. Although the engine and the aerodynamics are different version of WRC, the SPC Mini has the same chassis so it should not be a big adjustment problem. "

I've heard roumers that the 1.6t s2000 cars with their 30mm restricter are way down on power to their 2l n/a counterparts. Surely if the 1.6ts are better everyone would be using the fiesta rrc wouldn't they? Or is this mini somthing different? Didn't tsjoen use one in ypres last year and come nowhere?

Yep. Don't think the Mille Miglia was too conclusive. Basso in a Punto would be hard to beat on Italian asphalt. Should be an interesting event next weekend and good news about Marty and David in the PSE car.
