When Frank bought the car in 1985 it was used on the Fota Island rallysprint-went out to look as I was living in Cork at the time. At the time in his own words he bought it because he wanted to have the best Escort in the country.

I was living in London in 87 when I heard about him leading Galway against Lovell, who bumped him off the road. There was a Bamber Joke in Autosport that week showing a cartoon of the incident with the reg plate on the Sierra reading SHOVE IT.

Think Lovell offered to pay for any damage after the event.

Think you've your facts slightly incorrect there Ruby......it was 1989 that Meagher lead Lovell in the works Sierra by four minutes.(The same year he led Saeed Al Hajari in the Cork 20)

Meagher suffered engine trouble which led to his retirement oin both events.

It was Kenny Colbert in the RWD 205 who Lovell pushed off the road in Galway 1989.

Podge Newe (2223 IM) will fill in any inaccuracies in the above statement!!

PJ is correct, Frank went out in Galway due to engine problems, same in Cork. Mark never caught Frank on a stage either in Galway or Cork or anywhere that I can remember and he certainly did not bump him, he did catch Kenny Colbert and he did indeed bump him off which led to the famous or infamous RPM interview and the Bamber cartoon, which can still be bought.
