€75 is about £24 each which is a bargain as they are going for £25+ and add postage costs too on eBay

William Neill

I'm just waiting for some 1/18th decals of the McRae Stages car to be delivered and a 1/18th Sunstar model will be made just to see what it looks like in big version

Was thinking of a few Irish cars that could be made-the cars look very good.

Coleman, Fisher, Brian Nelson, a lot of the curent MK II boys might like a big model too

Mark Lowe

Doing the big models is good, but are people prepared to pay the price of such Irish drivers cars as I would think if you look at the big Irish Subaru models go for £99 the Escorts would be similar

Rory O Connor
09-01-2006, 13:58
Given that they would be specalist, one off I reckon so. I know of one person who will pay me a lot for a Fisher M3 in 1/24 or 1/18-which is what I am working on at the moment. As it is I would generally be doing them for myself anyway and if someone wants to buy from me then that is even better. It about tmaking the decals more than anything rather than doing full conversions.

A Coleman mk2 of some sort would be good

Rory O Connor

In is on my mind to do the 76 COI Escort -Zakspeed arches and all. The 78 car looks Ok. I have decals half done in 1/24 for the 77 Galway Stratos, Plus Studio 27 Decals for the 86 911 from Corsica-all I need to do is make up COI or Donegal rally plates for an Irish car.-so keep your eyes on my posts.

Current plans/projects for 2006:

1/18 Fisher M3-ongoing
1/24 Focus-Boland-ongoing, another Breen for AP, Machale.
Fisher Subaru-Blue & Silver.
Donnelly Corollas-Meteror and Kingspan versons.
Harrison Subaru S9 2005.

plus plus plus.

I think I will stop announcing stuff because everyone wants what I build for myself:D

I don't know-seems like there is a market for it. I was building the Breen Focus for myself until Andrew Purcell got wind of it and then it was given to Ray. Mind you I will be getting a reward for that in Febuary. I have been asked on several occasions to do models but I am not set up for mass production. The best I can hope to offer when I get the quality up to a good standard is decals and perhaps some resin bits for a trans-kit but whole models-too labour intensive to make it worthwhle

This is why I only do short runs and 1/43 are easier to do with regards to collecting and building

I still have all the pics from Ray's first event in the car so maybe a model will be done

The other will be ordered soon

looks great, for me 1/18 is far better than1/43, but I'd still rather build it myself in 1/24:o What size of a print run would you have to be looking at to do these in 1/24 Mark?

Rory O Connor
10-01-2006, 19:04
Looks excellent and the scale is perfect. Mark doesn’t know it yet but he is going to send me a copy of the graphics so I can print you up a set in 1.24 David.-Arent you Mark! :)

I reckon I will buy one of these myself to have a go a doing an Irish car-but I am mindful of having bought a lot of kits recently that I am not producing much.

As an aside-Mark did you have to strip the paint and respay the car or did the decals come off easily enough to give you the red body? I might have an air scoop that will fit the roof in my parts bin.

No I'm not Rory as you told me you have the graphics and you where going to make your own if you remember

I havent built it as this was down to a collector who asked me to get him a set of decals produced in 1/18 which cost him around £24 as he wanted to make his own up.

David I will find out what the cost of the decals will be in 1/24 but I guess a similar price to above if you want one set

Any decals for this McRae car deals with me unless anyone else makes their own from their pictures

I was fibbing Mark-we exchanging rather hostile posts at the time-still it was worth a try.

I guess I will have to trawl the net for the images

Would you not consider doing a run of 10 or 20 and selling them? Xav sells some of CB COMs decals in 1/24 on Ebay and they make good money despite being a poor product. Thing is they are often the only product and I'm obviously not alone wanting to buy them? We builders are a funny beast, I like to build my own, not doubting the quality of your product, which I believe is on par with KMD which is excellent, just I have built since a kid in 1/24 and I enjoy it:dunno:

The thing is with converting you have to look at the extras-on this car the wheels would be difficult to source and extra work in doing the air scoop.

I am currently attemting to convert a 1/18 M3 to do the Fisher car-the base car is a LHD racing version. I bought an Audi TT to get the wheels off it as it was the closest thing I could find to the BMW five spoke speedlines, I have to convert it to RHD too and add wipers.

This Escort would be possible if it ever runs on Minilites and the air scoop on the bonnet could be fashioned. We shall see.

Saw a model of a Coleman Escort in my local ford dealer show room
for sale about £200+ ,it said it was one of only 30 made,is this worth a buying.

PS Know little or nothing about quality of models.

Rory O Connor

Ok-can you get me a copy of the graphics from the guy who designed them. Where is the car based so I can take ref pictures of it-are you doing Galway or is Mayo your first event this year. Do you have an old rally plate from last year? Send me a U2u-we can then talk there.

Euro

I know a salesman there very well I will call in to him tomorrow and see what
i can find out about it.

Why do you think it could be a good buy? Its a lot of cash for a model.
Not 100% it is Coleman but it looked like it from a distance

Colemans Stratos sold on ebay during the week for £147 stg.If it's not a Coleman MK 2 I personally wouldn't be spending £200 on it.
Try to get the details from the car and I'm sure KMD wouldn't mine confirming if it's one of his and how many he made.

Nesbitt's Donegal P2000 sold at the same time for £132 Stg.

Greers Donegal Celica went for £132 stg as well.(I have one of them, also have his Corolla from the Cork 20,Nesbitt's Impreza from the Cork 20 and Austin McHales Corolla from the 20)

I did'nt think KMD did a model of a Coleman Escort. I have never seen it on his website, Stratos yes, Escort no.
Then again I did see a fantastic 1/18th model of Bolands Hertz WRC cossies once, not a KMD model but I don't know who made, I was told it was made to order sadly is was not for sale.

Not really as I have about 6 months work on for various people and getting asked to take on more.

Plenty of mk2's, escort cossies and corollas to be doing for now.

My decals where scanned from photos and printed on decal paper
