Congratulations Noel in the Pacenotes Competition my money was always on the quarry shot on two wheels I thought it was class but different people have different views and the shot thats won is a worthy winner.

Big Thankyou for all the support guys
I found out on Sunday night that I had won when Simon Mooney of Pacenotes phoned me
With the news that the Lark in the Park photo won it.
I was speechless couldn't say a word for a second or two hasn't sunk in yet
It is the first thing I have ever won in my life and to win 2 whole Grand
YEEEEPEEEEEE!
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the pacenotes team for Organising such
a fantastic competition with a prize which was second to none.
Now must get that new D2X ordered :D
Thanks
Noel

i personally think the photo is ****.
Sure it is sharp and all, but really, a picture of a car door winning 2 grand?
I don't mean any disrespect or anything, but i've hundreds better pictures taken this year, not least noels shot of the mk2 on 2 wheels.

naw it was the shot of the astra from lark in the park that won real tight crop due to noel having the 300mm on and the ariel is slightly bending with the force of the car coming onto it as she landed on her roof !
found it on noels site

Noel
Well done, one of many excellent photos you have taken this year. Dont spend the 2k in one shop. Something different, glad to see the top prize go to a deserving photographer

In all fairness, that's a really cool photo. Bit of artistic flair in there too! Well done.
check out www.rallypics.org home page, same incident only all of the car in the pic, nicer shot in my opinion. But it is just my opinion., I know my finepix does what I want it to do, few wee snap shots.

Well done Noel. A just reward for a lot of effort this year.
Greetings everybody. Can I please state before my post this these comments are purely opinion and offence need not be taken by anyone. i think the result of this competition was a very bad mistake. NG definitely deserved to win with his shot of the escort on its side but the winning shot definitely was a bad choice in my book. Noel deserves the prize no doubt as he had the best photo (escort) but the winning shot is a disaster when it comes to actually winning a rally competion. From the PR point of view from the competition it is bad. The photo should strike you straight away as being a rallycar but maybe its just my old age and poor eyesight but it took me a few split seconds to actually realise what the photo was showing. Surely if being advertised as being a rally photo competition it would be more ideal to have a classic action shot rather than a car door. People who haven't been following the competition all year would not be very impressed. I think they would expect to see more action. The shot in itself is probably a masterpiece (I have not a clue about photography) but really as a competion winner I don't thnk it was the right choice. I am still pleased for Noel though as I firmly believed he would win with the other picture anyway.
Can I ask who the judges were for this competition and had they a motorsport background as I also think that some of the other finalists through the year were disastrous choices. Anyway, it's all over now and well done to NG but I wanted to express my opinions and find out what the judges were thinking of. If they are non-motorsport judges we can maybe forgive them but really there should be better choices made next year.
This is the end of my two cents worth.
Kind Regards and Seasons Greetings.
W Bailie.

Sometimes it is the different subject that can take the win. How often do you get a chance to get a photo like Noel's, not often in my opinion. I do not know who the judges are but I would have gone for Noel's winning shot. The Escort was a good one, but fails on two counts in my book, it is not a rally and is an easier one to capture. This is just my opinion though, and I do think that the best photo has won, damn hard one to get.

i can tell ya one thing if your in a shop and seen that picture that won on the front of a calender then you would for for 2nd look, the escort pic was amazing yes but at the right point can be got easier (still not easy) than the winning shot
what counts, rarity of the shot or the attractiveness of the shot? The winning shot was well caught but to be honest I dont like it
Well done Noel, nice shot. Spend it wisely

Already spent as the new D2X is ordered all
Thanks to Pacenotes.
All i can say is well done that shot is one in a million . A blink either way and it was gone.
this months maximum attack shot was a nice pic in pace notes, it even shows all the car. What were the judges on? Was Kate Moss a judge? If thats the best shot from the year, I sure wont be forking out £25 for it when for not much more, I could get McKlein.s calendar.

for once i agree with u JJ the whole car isnt even in the picture its a door and an aerial, the other escort shot was still a once in a small lifetime shot and at least u could see the whole car in it. very bad choice by the judges. a once in a lifetime shot does necessarily mean it is a worthy competition winner. well done to the winner anyhow.

Congrats Noel..
here's hoping we get another chance next year if Pacenotes run the competition again. One thing- there have been some cracking shots submitted this year, and this competition has definitely inspired me to think a lot more about my pictures.
Yours is the sort of shot we all dream about, but you were there and caught the moment! Well done.
