I Took my new camera along with me yesterday but the results werent the best to say the least:

The top half of the car seems all white! Any advice you guys have to give would be most appreciated as i really havent a clue but i'd like to be able to get a few nice shots. I'm gonna head down to the library and see if they've any books on sports photography but i thought i'd ask here first. The camera's not a real DSLR by the way, so i believe i'm fairly limited to what i can expect to achieve, its a Fuji 9600.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe - and this is just a guess - the contrast is set to high. When i took pics on my phone at night when i was on holidays lights where very Bright like ur pic.

Im sure some of the proper photographers will tell u whats up.

BTW other than the brightness of the photo thats a nice pic! well done

Looks like it overexposed, maybe too low a shutter speed or exposure compensation on. Good photo other than that.

did u get the problem sorted??

Freewebs i dont think i'll really know until i get to another rally and take more photos. In hindsight i think i was messing around with the settings a bit much as the day went on because if you click below and have a look at my very first photo of the day it was fairly decent regarding the light, although in fairness the car was nearly stopped at that point. Its all part of the crack i suppose learning where you went wrong but i cant remember what settings i used for the jump photo so i'm not just sure exactly what i did wrong. In future i'm going to use the voice memo function on the camera for each photo. It will allow me to verbally record the settings i used and add the note to each photo after i take it. It only takes a few seconds but hopefully i'll be able to see what i'm doing wrong. As ontherack said, i think i had exposure compensation on!

Thanks for asking and any comments or tips would be welcome.
