Did you know that they were made in Northern Ireland for a short time and called the Corry Cultra? A local guy called Will Corry bought the rights to make the Davrian and intended to made a mid-engined rallycar in Ballynahinch, using an XR2 engine and gearbox. They ran in a few rallies with (from memory) Adrian Boyd and Brian Nelson driving.

Aye,

I was talking about this with a mate the other day,

Apparently the problem was that because they were running on Ford Fiesta running gear, it was very prone to breaking shafts etc.

Wasn`t as pretty as a Darrian tho,

Anyone got any pics?

I`ll see if I can find any,

This is the inside of the original sales brochure. The cover is an A3 pic and I will scan it when I have a minute. I have seen a couple of the factory cars, they look great.

Been away all weekend and only catching up on the forums now, that was a nice looking Davrian at the show, only spotted it as the stand was being dismantled on the Sunday evening.
2 friends of mine have done alot of business with Tim in the last couple of years, one has rebuilt a Davrian Imp for racing and Hillclimbs while his brother has built a Darrian for rallying.

Paul your a lucky guy getting to go working with Tim, hope you enjoy it, will you be out on any of the rallys with him looking after either JD's 2.5 GTR or James Hoeseasons V6 engined beast (formally a V8).

These 2 are from Ballycastle forest in 1984, with I think Brian Nelson driving. The car ran 00 in the Sunday of the Circuit that year also.

The Corry Cultra had a little bit of success in the UK forest, you see the two bulges in the roof, this was to raise the roof slightly so you could wear a helmet inside the car, very little clearance inside. On the press photo for the rally car on one side the door did not actually fit properly so someone had to lean against it to make it look alright. Up until MK8 most were imp powered, some switched to ford power but the mainstay was Imp. If you read Marchs issue of Car sport you will see a pic on one in a field beside a Clan in co Galway, this is a MK8 hillclimb car. Huge following for these cars in Japan, not many people rally the MK5. But it would make a good post historic car.
Mr Cullens, Davrian Imp, is a good example of early Davrians, the MK8 in the field in Galway is a very good example of one of the last margues before the Darrian came along.
