Did Cronin actually sell the car, and if so when?
I was speakin to someone from Belgium who knows the guy who bought this car, and he says the car was bought recently from France, or at least that the car had French plates when they bought it. So, I didn't really think that could've been Cronin's car.
Perhaps yet another case of a car having a double identity ?

I believe Denis still has the car .

It was Bertie's car too at one point

yes I know Bertie had it, the car in whatever identity was also driven by Billay Coleman, Bernard Beguin, Patrick Snijers and then after Fisher) Bill Connolly ....the case of double identity would stem back to when it was a Prodrive or Bastos car and the fact that there were two cars in each of those teams, when the car appeared on the stages.
If you can understand French, there appears to be a discussion about this on another forum. Can anyone elaborate what agreement they've came to if anything?

Can`t make out anything from the discussion on that forum, the pictures are good tho,
From what I can make from it, there may well be a case of double identity :o:, surely, Denis' logbook for the car should be able to clear this up??

BASTOS AND ROTHMANS ARE OWNED BY THE SAME HOLDING COMPANY-BAT-OR EVEN 555 IF YOU LIKE-IT WAS ALWAYS A PRODRIVE CAR

I didn't know that, infact didn't even know what Bastos is/are lol. But either way, the reason I said Prodrive as opposed to Rothmans is because when it did appear on Tour de Corse 87 which it is best known for, its "sister-car" was not actually a Rothmans car, hence, not a Rothmans team but a Prodrive team with one car backed by Rothmans. But it was part of a two-car Rothmans BMW team on the Circuit in 87.

David Sutton ran "Rothmans" cars for Vatenen and Airakkala . They were also associated with the works "Opel Team Europe" managed by Tony Fall in the early eighties running Vatanen,Toivenen ,and McRae .

Prodrive always ran the cars.
BAT-British American Tobacco-own Rothmans and own 555-hence car reg plates on the early Subaru’s as 555 BAT, etc
Bastos is a ciggie firm too-owned by BAT-hence all the links with Prodrive and the reason the car used on the Manx ran with out the livery is because ciggie ads are banned in the UK
BAT did not buy Rothmans until 1999, after the Porsche and M3 days, the M3 was initially registered in Antrim DZ only and Belfast XI only, only 4 works spec cars were registered in England 2 in Northampton, 1 in Nottingham and 1 in Birmingham, why who knows. Prodrive only ran Rothmans cars from the Porsche days onwards, Rothmans Opel was run by Opel with Tony Fall in Charge. Rothmans Ford by Dave Sutton. Prodrive only came into existence in 1984.
As Denis had his car out only a few weeks ago doing 00, did he really sell it.
