It actually gets worse. I think this is Manchester city centre. Local council was getting concerned that cars floating about the city centre had a habit of knocking pedestrians down. Something like 300 had been injured over the past year or so and sadly one person was fatally injured. So the council came up with this idea of installing the pop up bollards and those public transport vehicles that were allowed in the shopping area had a electronic device fitted that lowered the bollards when approaching the pedestrian zones.
At the entrance to the zones there are big, very obvious, illuminated neon flashing signs warning and explaining that the bollards will not lower for non official vehicles.
When it was publicised that private cars were trying to sneak in on the tailgate of a bus and getting a steel bollard rammed up their sump the Health and Safety Executive issued an order that the bollards should be removed as they reckoned they were a danger to public health.
Nanny state or what. Would you try and sneak out of a carpark in Jarvis Street in Dublin without paying and risk a barrier coming down on the roof of your car (although I'm sure a few people do)?

Take a look at the passenger in the last clip.

He busts the screen in the van with his head.

And the MPV has a young child in the back seat.

A barrier that raises and lowers can do the same thing.

Don't think any of these drivers copped on how quickly the bollards were coming up.

Not to excuse the driving in any way, but need they be put to such serious accidents at such low speeds?

And if pedestrians getting knocked down, isn't that where gatsos supposed to be used??

Was the Micra driver, in the very first clip, actually PARKED there? Thats even funnier....
