fatboymotorsport
13-08-2006, 01:25
dont talk to me about wiring the lad that tried to build this car b4 us made some mess of the wiring i just cut everything out and started afresh
have the dash allmost finished thankfully with the webbers there is very little to wire on the engine
have you a site for a manifold i wouldnt have time to wait for this build but would be intrested for the next swift engine i have here.

Also what about the Brain I think you can just pull it out when you running carbs !
Jaysus lads would ye not forget about carbs - old technology. Fuel injection is the way to go.
rossgamble1987
16-08-2006, 17:48
Yeah and its also expensive/More can go wrong/expensive to fix when it dose goe wrong i could go on all day here!

fatboymotorsport
16-08-2006, 20:48
i dont know about intresting ross but mine is comming along will take some pics tommorow and post them up have the steering in (not as easy as the make out) the brakes all done have the manifold away being made up have the uniballs and new discs on the front 95% of the wiring finished
only have about 2 weeks left to finish and test b4 its out :help:
rossgamble1987
16-08-2006, 21:00
Take its power steering?? electric or pump???
fatboymotorsport
16-08-2006, 21:06
electric with the variable ecu
rossgamble1987
16-08-2006, 21:16
Cool ive just quick rack in lol Will do the Job when I get faster Ill upgrade everything no point me going out with a great car and no experience! LOL
fatboymotorsport
16-08-2006, 21:38
if we build another corsa will use the electric pump from a saxo or clio and go that way the eps system is a pig to fit
rossgamble1987
16-08-2006, 21:48
Whys that threv?
fatboymotorsport
16-08-2006, 21:57
just its sold as a bolt on part but its not have to modify the colum carrier to hold it in position it takes a bit of work to fit it right and its not easy if you have the dash and all wiring in place

Not really. Carbs can be more expensive and have a lot more capacity to go wrong. And at the end of the day they are always compromised somewhere in the rev range.
Main expense is going to be a mapable ECU which you should probably be getting anyway for your ignition even if you have carbs.
Keep in mind also that with inj. you can dump the distributor another reliability improvement.
I'll make you up a nice set of cheap throttle bodies & manifold like I did for my own car....
rossgamble1987
17-08-2006, 16:20
Yeah but id be buying new injectors for my swift engine if I did go that way which are 80 quid each new ! Then id need the brain and enuf wiring from a suzuki swift to run the injectors! Or so ive been told I know carbs are simple im goingt the yamaha r1 carb way
fatboymotorsport
17-08-2006, 19:28
you dont need a mapable ecu to run carbs just the right type dizzy and a coil
in an ideal world throttle bodies and a 3d engine mapping system would be nice but thats all big €€€€'ssss that could be spent better on entries and tyres.

time to stand back and wait for the critisim ;)
Looks grand although if it was mine I'd prefer to see some traingulation from the cage out to the front.
If you've fitted cams and solid lifters make sure you reduce the oil flow to the head or else these engines throw the oil out the breather, run low and then big bang on a straight!.
fatboymotorsport
17-08-2006, 23:14
bought the car as an unfinished project if i was building again i wouldnt use a bolt in cage
fatboymotorsport
18-08-2006, 15:57
if you look at the top pic in the top right you can see it all ready to be mounted ;)
rossgamble1987
18-08-2006, 18:29
Hows your seats mounted dont see any seat rails is that just2/3mm alu check plate for the footwells?? make them yourself or buy them Ill wait till ive dash finished and wiring then ill take a few pics lol !!
Looking Good Trev gn3dr what if your running billet cams and hydralic lifters woudl you still need oil flow reduction?????
fatboymotorsport
19-08-2006, 01:48
have box welded in on the drivers side for the seat and am going to bolt the pass seat throught 3mm steel plates to keep it low
the floors are thin alui and tes made them ourselves
rossgamble1987
19-08-2006, 14:46
Same cage as mine trev as Id also buy eithe a cds or t45 weld in if ever had to reshell !

Ai Im doing ok but while tempted just to get engine and box fitted and leave her with a guy that knows even if it dose costupwards of 400 stg at least you would know its done right!
So trev what seats/harnesses you using? Im think on saving money and just buying basic stuff like seats and stuff wount make you go harder!
