Celica 4ws ??

just looking for advice, thoughts or commments
on a 93 celica gtr model
im thinking of buying one, but i have heard before that the 4ws can be problematic and wears tyres badly
also can this be turned off for normal driving or is it constant?
any one on here own one or have any information on it
gladly appreciated
ps im looking out for 90-93 model if any one has one up for sale

I'm pretty sure the 4ws is permanent Pat, cousin of mine used to have one a while back....
