after bleeding the brakes a small bit to get new pads on, the brake pedal is VERY soft and there barely any bite in the brakes, what am I doing wrong? are u supposed to open the bleed screws and pump the pedal or something?

More that likely there is air still in the line.
You should bleed the furthest point from the master cylinder first... this will normaly be the left rear. then the furthest point from that again and so on... so it will be left rear, right front, right rear, left front.

Slacken bleed screw make sure you have plenty of brake fluid in and as Buckley says start with the furthest calliper away slacken it and pump pedal a bit look out for air bubbles if you think there is air in the system then you might need to bleed the whole thing its handy with two people as I discovered one to pump and one to screw at callipers!

And make sure you have enough fluid in at all times cause its a real pain to be on the last caliper and hear a quite suck or slup and look to see you drawn in more air lol!

Borris boy is right ...why d'ya think ya had ta bleed'em to change pads ?

If bleeding..buy a 'pressure-bleed' system... You can use the air-pressure in your spare wheel to push fluid through the lines !:detective:
