just a thought, next time it cuts out kill all power and check is the filter king/carbs full of juice, sometimes the pumps can fail to deliver volume but will keep things going at tickover,
is it happening during driving or ticking over??

Having a problem like that with my road car when cold. Have a feeling that it's a engine temperature sensor. She's dying when in traffic while cold. Restarts again no problem. Might be worth checking the sensors.

renowned engine builder kenny colbert used the points systym for alan chambers in his sunbeams so we will chance ours and see what happens cant hurt any more than the sh*te that was in it:smoke:

:detective: I ran "points" in a sunbeam for years....ney problems .... sure they were designed to operate to approx. 7500-8000 rpm ...So I don't get the drift when other posters on the forum say points wont work at high revs/// ------ Yeah..maybe on a bike-engined car but not a 'natural car engine/ignition system.........

Bring back the mechanics !!!
throw out ECU's Trick Diffs etc etc etc :D :detective:

on the swift engine i ran a lucas dizzy with points and it was not able for the high revs it kept breaking down after i fitted the electronic kit it worked 100%

saying that the sunbeam will hardly rev much over 7.5k so it should be ok hopefully ;)

And there the story ends, but hopefully the sunbeam will rev her little heart out and if he can hold her at 7500 revs he d be happy
