been trying to decal some models but have been having problem's with decals cracking.
i have been using humbrol decal fix as this was recomended by a local model shop.
any help would be great

What is cracking exactly?
Is it when you put the decal over the lines of the model etc?
Can you show some pics.
I use Micro sol decal softener which usually works
this happens after i have put them in warm water and try to apply them onto the model, they just seem to tear when taking them of the backing paper or when positioning them on the model. and it's not easy to get them to stick on uneven surfaces.

what decals are they? ie what car and does it say who makes them?
there have been different decals, vitesse one's on a lancia 037, proence moulage escort cosworth and a trans kit for a lancia delta, i think these are made by virages of france.

The only thing I can think of is that they have been stood for a good while and dried up hence the cracking.
The might look ok on the sheet but once they come off they just fall apart, I have had this many time.
One thing I do is put my decals in greaseproof paper which keeps them ok

Soak the paper for longer and in warm water. I usually dip each decal seperatly when I come to use it-long enough for the paper to get wet without soaking the decal off. Then let is sit for a min or so, then wet the tip of your finger and slide it off. A wet paint brush can then be used to move it about and here is the disgusting bit-use the tip of your tongue to push it home into the little gaps and things-it works for me.

Dosnt matter how long you soak the decals Rory, if they are cracked on the sheet they are going to fall apart when they come into contact with water
