Might be no harm, you wud'nt know if the other ecu is faulty till you put in.

Not sure there, most cars you can swop one ECU for another. But will prob have to recode your own immobiliser to suit new ECU.

nearly all ecu must be programmed to the vehicle as all modern cars are fitted with P,A,T,S Passive Anti Theft System and ypur keys will not work on any old ecu unless they are coded in. you might also need the transponder its the piece around where the key goes into the ignition barrell
