With E85 having a 104RON Octane rating it could be a good cheap option to race fuel. Is there anyone with experience?

From the bit of homework I've done, it appears that the car has to run with 30 - 35% more fuel than unleaded to burn stiochiometrically as lambda = 1 at 9.8:1 and not 14.7:1 as normal.

Could this be easily done with just larger injectors and an ECU map or chip? Who could map it? and how far could you advance the timing given the high octane rating?

What's done to the fiestas?

Careful,,the fuel eats plastic and copper..The fiestas had to change fuel lines and petrol pumps..Its also illegal to use under MSA rules(Fiestas got special permission to use it and had to run all in the same class).

Yes, I've heard this before about the corrosive properties of the fuel - but I can't seem to find any proof........ The enthanol itself isn't corrosive, as you can store it in PP or PE drums with Buna rubber O-rings with no problems - it must be the additives that are added???

Every car in the Subaru Impreza one-make championship in Norway uses E85.
Andreas Mikkelsen finished third overall, behind two world cars, on the opening round last month, and after two rounds of the one make series he is actually leading the Norwegian Rally championship outright.

Looks as if 900cc - 1200cc injectors + Omex 600 or equivelant will do the job. Road cars could use smaller injectors and an EPROM or chip or remap. Don't think you can change injectors for group N though??? may have to widen injector pulse width and hike up the fuel pressure to achieve results.
