very good rallying over there very fast open class cars with no restrictions up to 400-500 bhp 2 min gaps between the first few cars and back to one minute then pastrana made **** of the car on one of the first stages which was a dissapointment but the blue and white hyundai won the rally he was unreal to watch ame running gear as a evo 6 finest gravel roads ive ever seen all that the need is a few of the mk2s from home theyd have a ball not a pothole or rut to be seen

Martin Brady 18-06-2008, 15:29 Great rally, I competed on it in 2006 and really enjoyed the experience. The night stages were fantastic, it was a real novelty to rally in the woods in the dark but on such fast wide stages, it was like the "M50 on gravel"
The town people joined in the spirit of the event and gave it great encouragement. I found the diferent rules and ceremonial procedures difficult to adapt to initially and it made me appreciate how well run our own forestries are, no disrespect to the officals over there.
For example one stage was completley cancelled due to the watersplash over the flying finish being to deep to rally through, it wasnt even anounced at briefing just a small note on the notice board that you could easily miss (and many did) but of course a sharp Irish man (who now has an upcoming rally nicknamed after him) was the one to ask the questions and highlight it at briefing. The obvious answer and his suggestion was to shorten the stage by a few hundred meters or even end it at the last junction before the splash was a novel idea to the organisers but too late in the day to change the time card and "route book", of course the Irish answer was put it in on the notice board and we will write in the changes ourselves- answer no because a competitor cannot write anything on the timecard- Irish suggestion was get a spare marshall allow them to do it to each card as we waited in the que for the ramp....no to that too and we lost a good stage, I guess its just a case of we have so many rallies here and such experience of problems and solutions that Irish guys can think on their feet and get a solution to keep the rally going. I think these volunteers havent the opportunity to see and do as much as we have and thats the big difference, but a great country to go rallying in, the roads are fantastic and you see parts of the country that you would never see on a normal "holiday"
Oh My God,that Sounds Awwwwwwwesome!! Do They Have Lepreeeeeechans Over There? You Guys Are Soooooo Sooooo Lucky To Have Rallied Over There
PS Is Rally Sharkey aka N E M C Stages the answer to your quiz:eek: whats my prize Martin?
USA open class runs 34mm restrictors-power is therefore limited to rounghly 320bhp....but we hit 500ft/lbs of torque :)
i see derek ringer was sitting with pastrana.............he used to sit with colin mcrae.thought he retired.
hey martin check check out the entry list for maine forest rally sooon as we have somebody else going to try out the great roads over here hopefully he can show the rest of the irish how to really drive a car

Ringer has been in with Pastrana since the beginning of the year Robbert!
